“I’m finally starting to realise being alone doesn’t have to mean being lonely”

So for my latest uni project I’m doing a series of self-portraits based on Postsecrets and making them relate to myself.

This one is based off of this secret. I always do make wishes at 11:11. Even though I’m a skeptical person and I know nothing will come of it it’s just nice to think that way. A comfort blanket maybe. Anyway, when I’m making my 11:11 wishes I tend to make them for friends in trouble or in need of luck. I think if I believed in wishes coming true and all that I’d believe they were more likely to come true if it was a selfless wish.
So there are a few symbols for friendship in here. Some of them personal that nooobody will understand. One of them you can’t even see which is annoying.

My Insomnia

I’ve been looking through lots of my old stuff recently because of the (ahem, FAILED) London exhibition and realised I took most of it before I started this blog! So forgive me if I put up some old stuff.
I took this back when I was attempting a 365 (which I was RUBBISH at btw, only got to about 40 I think) when I decided a bit of lighthearted photography was needed! I had too many serious photos around that time.
I’ve not taken anything new in so long because I’ve been concentrating on uni and wedding work so I’m definitely going to try and get some stuff done this week! Got sooo many ideas built up!
Oh also, forgot to say that I’ve made the blog layout all shiny and different and it now has a domain name!

Well over a year ago I took the first image in this series, Story of a Posh Girl. I think it was one of the first self-portraits I took that in which I really felt it told something about me. Mainly because that was its entire purpose. It was also the first image of mine that was popular. Even though I was half way through my 2nd year of studying Photography I hadn’t quite found my feet yet and didn’t really have a style or anything yet.

I’d realised that most of the photos I’d taken at this point were serious and that is DEFINITELY not my style. So I created this, it’s a serious story but with a fun, quirky twist. Just my style. And then from that the series grew. I explored different aspects of myself, serious, contradicting, silly but all very much important to me.

Each image has a story that goes along with it (I’m no writer so they’re not great). I’ve posted some of them on Flickr (I will put them all up eventually) but the rest of them can be found in the book I made to go with the series.

All the titles are under the photos if you click them btw (there are more missing from this)

I’ve been neglecting to post my cinemagraphs as I finish them! I prefer looking at them on Tumblr cause they look much better when they’re small.

I think I fixed it? Did I fix it? Please say I fixed it.
Not perfect but it’s a bit better. I’ll come back to it, have to try and get the others done as well.

The camera shop down the road phoned me and told me they’d had this CD of photos sitting there since October. Do NOT remember putting this roll of film in for development but it’s got some right gems on it.
